Battembang & Wat Banan
Early January, 2009
The only reason why we came over to Battembang was because I was flying back to London from the premiere in
Barcelona around November and I read this article in the British Airways flight magazine, and they had "Battembang"
as one of the most beautiful unknown towns from around the World. And they were right! Even though Battembang
and its surroundings face poverty, it was an eye opening experience to see how Kids in other parts of the world live.

Going to work...
We checked out this mini Angkor Wat, called Wat Banan. Which meant taking the moped 24 miles on dirt roads...
Became such a big fan of 16mm, the Super 8 days for me are over...hehe just kidding, but surprisingly with a
Student discount its almost the same price to develop the films.
Once we arrived at Wat Banan, this kid just keep following us... He became our tourguide. His name is Tong!
Protecting that lung...
Stairs
Tong's home.
Tong's dog.
Tong's little friend. Right after we left, we decided to go buy Tong some new cloth and toys and go back.
Pink flower pants for a boy... I think he deserved some new pants...
Thats not Fanta, this Fanta will get your bike to roll...
Back in Battembang, we checked out an abandoned Train Station.
Volleyball!
Train Station life!
The next day we had to wake up early and take a 8 and a half hour boat ride from Battembang to Siem Reap. The
journey was supposed to be wonderful but they over packed the boat and we had to sit right next to the engine...
It was so loud and annoying after a couple hours that, we just couldn't really take it no more. I saw that there was
no one on the front of the boat, like the very front, so we went up there and had the best place.
Amazing!
Sometimes it got pretty sketchy since the river was extremely curvy...
