| Visualtraveling is proud to present a pair of Absurd x Visualtraveling collaborative skateboards. Since Visualtraveling’s early projects, Russia and our Russian friends such as Kirill Korobkov have greatly influenced the way we successfully navigated across a vast Eurasia from steppe to sea. When asked to collaborate on a pair of image-laden boards, the answer was a resounding “да” (“yes”)! Lev Maslov at Absurd Skateboards left the photo selection up to me. For the street board, I choose Michael Mackrodt pushing in Foshan, China with a massive Buddha statue looming in the background. This image both celebrates and encapsulates the half-decade of lines I have filmed with Michael, himself an avid global explorer. For the cruiser board, I selected Kenny Reed, skateboarding’s iconic traveler, doing what was very likely the first documented 360 flip amidst the sharp socialist-realist angles of Pyongyang, North Korea. Both images are evocative of what Visualtraveling represents to me & I am thrilled for the opportunity to present these skateboards to you. |
